My current work, a series titled From the Archives revolves around the roles of rebirth, technology, and social media in art today. Anyone with a smartphone can, in a matter of seconds, take a photograph, apply a “vintage” filter, and post it for millions to see. Borrowing this approach to “fast art,” I use images from my personal archive of photographs and edit them using only software and applications on an iPad. During the creation of this series, I posted each image to various social media platforms, encouraging feedback from an international audience, and then the audience was invited to submit photos from their own archives to be transformed into new works – creating art from art.
